- HOW TICTAC WORKS -
TICTAC – THE UK`S LEADING DRUG IDENTIFICATION DATABASE

TICTAC is a tool to identify tablets and capsules from a physical description. It is used by healthcare, law enforcement professionals and the pharmaceutical industry.

The TICTAC user interface is sufficiently intuitive and flexible to meet the needs of all levels of competence and experience across a wide range of users – including the Department of Health, Police Services and Poisons Information Service – and to cope with the variable amount of information available.

RELIABILITY

The reliability of the identification achieved will vary according to the characteristics of the product. A distinctively marked tablet can be identified with confidence. A plain white unmarked one – unless it is unusually large or small – will obviously be identified with rather less confidence. However, even at the lower confidence levels, TICTAC will be able to present a list of products that match the unknown, sorted in the order they best fit the description provided.

MAKING AN IDENTIFICATION SEARCH - in just 4 simple steps….

The TICTAC user interface resembles a stack of filing cards. Each card has a clearly defined function, shown below:-

To make identification, follow these steps:-

Step 1 Select the card that relates to the search you wish to make. (In the demonstration below, a Product search has been selected.) Step 2 Narrow the search by selecting a card on the next level that describes the unknown product’s type. (In the demonstration, the unknown product is a Tablet.)
Step 3 Select all the known criteria relating to your tablet. (Criteria selected in the demonstration are ringed in red.) Step 4 Click the Retrieve button (located at the bottom right of the screen) and you will be presented with matching results. Results will look like this:

From the result screen you are also given additional information, where applicable:

  • Ingredients
  • Manufacturer’s details
  • Summary of Product Characteristics (SPC)
